Bolivia Review on June 30, 2008:

Review Topic: K3 Visa

Paper work became a little more confusing once the US Consulate received the papers. We never received Packet 3, but were able to contact the consulate. They indicated that Packet 3 was not necessary, since they had all required information. They emailed us the Packet 4 information and requirements.
My wife was able to obtain here medical appointment and I sent her some required documents.
I flew down to Bolivia to accompany my wife to the interview. We believe this helped with the processes. They did not allow me to enter in the morning, but I was able to accompany her in the afternoon, for second step of interview.
In the morning, the officer asked her several questions. He asked how we met and my wife said the internet. He then said, “Really !!” and tried to find problems with paperwork. He was not very nice, but could not find any problems.
In the afternoon, we waited for 3 hours for our turn. The next officer was very nice and asked only a few questions, which we responded quickly and truthfully to. I told my wife that the questions he asked seem like friendly conversations, but he was testing us. He then asked when we planned to travel and we said that next weekend. He said they need a week to send us the Visa, but he put it through quickly and we received it two days later. He was very helpful and nice.
Other than waiting for 3 hours for a 5 minute interview, the overall was successful.
We arrived in the US, but after waiting for Immigration and customs, we missed our flight. We were rebooked on a later flight for the second leg of our trip. We are now home, happy and she is adjusting well at the moment. She misses her family a lot, but she says she will do better with time
