Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had appointment for interview at 9.00 am 03-07-2008. Fortunately, my fiance was with me (he arrived the day before, when i made my medical check up, and we had to stay in a hotel as i didn't live in Kiev where interview was held). We reached the consulate around 8.30am and waited in a "line" (there were no one before us, only a lot of students, but they applied for other visa type and somehow they were in another group) for about 10 minutes, then we were allowed to go (even they allowed my fiance to come in without his international passport, only with driver license). Inside of "check point" we were checked on metallic detector, and asked to live our cell phones, metallic pen and i don't remember if anything more, in a little container right there. We were well prepared and almost had nothing with us except papers. Then we entered a building of consulate, followed the arrows and reached a room with another 2 people applying for K1-K3 visas in it. We waited for about 15 minutes and were called to the window. Nice guy talked to us (he asked if i would talk in Russian, Ukrainian or English, we talked in English), asked for some more papers (like Birth cert., Police paper, etc.), asked some questions (nothing special, just some of my datas), filled the questionnaire and told us to have our seats until the council would call us. That all took us about 10 minutes, not more. I was asked to give my fingerprints. Then we waited for council for about an hour. When he called us (one more nice guy), he asked me to swear on Bible, took again my fingerprints. He couldn't find our pics in all our papers, and asked for them, but in the second moment he looked at Glen and was like "Oh, i can see you in real, i don't need your pics ". Then He asked Glen if he was from MA, talked few seconds about it (consul originally was from Connecticut), and gave me a pink paper (means i am approved). He didn't ask ME ANY question!
We payed for FedEx and my passport with visa was delivered to me 6 days later (even that could be faster, but that was time of a holiday in Ukraine).
Maybe i've lost some little details, but in general that was it. We left consulate around 10.10 and went to celebrate!!!
I only want to mention that it's not really convenient that you can't pay for interview in consulate, only in a bank, and only in one specific bank. I payed for it the day before, cuz there was no chance i could do it the same day before interview, but if i arrived to Kiev on interview day, it would be problematic for me to pay..
Everything else was nice and easy. We were very satisfied!
