I finally finished this whole process and it was stressful (preparing the documents part)!
8:45 AM (EDT): - I went inside the Consulate to inform the security guard that I have my appointment at 9 am. He told me to wait outside and he will call me in.
8:55 AM (EDT): - The security guard called me in and asked for my passport to confirm my name for the interview appointment. He then asked me a few Covid-19 related questions such as, "Have you travelled
outside of Canada in the past 14 days?", "Do you have any covid-19 symptoms?", "Have you been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19?"
- Another security guard inside asked me to put my stuff through the x-ray machine. He asked me to put my phone in the locker and then take the elevator to the 1st floor.
9:05 AM (EDT): - I walked to window 6 and a lady asked for my passport to confirm the interview appointment. She gave me a receipt with the number on it and told me to wait for the number to pop up on the TV.
She kept my passport though.
9:15 AM (EDT): - My number was on the TV and I walked to window 4. She was pretty much just verifying the basic information on the forms that I filled out. She asked if my address is still the same and then she
asked me a few questions about my spouse. She asked me the following questions: "What is your spouse name? Where does she lives? What is her phone number? How is the joint sponsor related
to your spouse?"
- I informed her that I need a few information to be updated on the DS-260 and I uploaded the new I-864 form with the new information about my wife. She said she couldn't find my updated I-864
form on the system and asked if I have a physical form with me. Luckily I photocopied all of the documents ahead of time so I gave her the physical one.
- She also asked me for my Original Birth Certificate, Original Police Certificate, Original Marriage Certificate, I-864 (updated version) along with last year tax returns, I-864A (joint-sponsor) and his
last year tax return, and 1 passport photo of myself.
- She told me to sit back down and wait for my number to be called on the TV again. The whole process for this window took around 15mins
9:55 AM (EDT): - I got called to window 2 and this time is the actually CO who was doing the interview. He was very polite and nice. He asked me almost the same questions as the lady from the window
before this one.
- Here are the questions: "Who is the petitioner? What is her name? When is her birthday? How and when did you meet your spouse? Where does your wife live? Is it a house or apartment? What
does my wife do for a living? What is her salary? How is the joint sponsor related to your spouse? What does he do for a living? Where does he work? Where does he live?
- Since both my wife and the joint sponsor lives at the same address, he asked me if my wife parents also live at that address and if I'm going to live there too. I said yes and jokingly said, big family.
He smiled and said must be a big house.
- I also let him know that I need to update information on the DS-260. He asked me what the information was and he updated. He asked me if I read the pamphlet.
- He then said I'm going to approve your immigration visa. He gave me 2 sheets of paper. It's about how to track your passport and visa and what is the next step after the visa is approved.
- He gave me back all my original documents and he kept the passport.
10:05 AM (EDT): - I exited the building and was on my way back to the hotel!
Overall, the whole interview experience was good. I was nervous at the beginning but as time goes by I got less nervous. All the staff there was nice.
