I had my interview on 9-June-2021 and I have to say the officers I dealt with were lovely.

I arrived 10 minutes ahead of my appointment - there is a little kiosk you have to go through security at. They made me empty/throw away my water bottle. My smart watch, phone, and car keys were put in a locker. I was allowed to keep my wallet and my bag with documents. You go from the kiosk through the courtyard to the main building where another security guard greets you. This room is like a big post office where there are little booths you walk up to - there's no seat during the interview.

A short waiting time before being called to the counter to hand over my documents. The gentleman here was really nice and we cracked a few jokes. He made sure to tell me that if successful, my visa would be printed into my passport, and I would get a big brown envelope that should remain sealed until it is opened by an immigration officer at the airport ("Imagine there is a big deadly spider in here, you do not want to open this!"). He also let me know to leave extra time at the airport as I will be taken into another room and an officer will go through the folder. Dublin should be grand as that is all dealt with there at pre-clearance.

Then I sat down and waited a few minutes to be called to a second window for the interview. This officer was also so lovely. You have to raise your hand and swear an oath that everything you've submitted is true and you'll answer truthfully. He asked me some questions then - "tell me about your fiancé", "how did you meet", "what were you both studying", "where do you work", "when did you know you wanted to spend your life with them", "what do your parents think of him", "have you ever been to [state I'm moving to]". We also cracked a few jokes during the interview. I think this lasted ~10 minutes. He ended the interview by saying "it is my pleasure to let you know you are approved for a visa" and handed me a one page document with further information. He then again reiterated what his colleague had said about not opening the brown envelope as it will invalidate the visa and I would have to go back to the embassy to get a new one issued.

Overall a very easy and uneventful experience! I was out and done within 25 minutes.
