The security experience was similar to airport security. We had to take off our shoes, and place our belongings and jackets in the bins. The officers working were relatively relaxed and the process was quick. They didn't check our appointment time, so we could enter 25 minutes before our appointment time. (We wanted to give ourselves some time to find the room).
Once upstairs, we checked in by showing our interview notice, our IDs, taking our temperatures and fingerprints.
We waited almost 3 hours to be called in to see the officer. Because of the letter+number waiting room system they used, it's impossible to tell when you will be called and they don't call the numbers in order. We would definitely recommend bringing a snack, and using the washroom before checking in. There are bathrooms on the same floor as the USCIS offices.
When we were called, the officer escorted us back, we swore an oath, and they checked our documents. The original documents they requested were: passports, birth certificates, and the marriage certificate and license. The evidence of relationship she was interested in was: our jointly filed tax return, joint bank account statement, and the documents listing health insurance dependents. To save time, she took our copies of our passports, the SSN, and EAD since the photocopier wasn't working.
She asked us about how we met, and then she asked select questions from the i-485.
Lastly, she told us that if we didn't hear anything in 120 days to file an inquiry. Our approval came through a few hours after our appointment.

Overall, our experience was pretty positive! The worst part was not knowing what the officer would want in advance, and the long wait time in the waiting room. There were also several lawyers in the waiting room with us that were speaking loudly, not following social distancing rules, and not wearing their masks. The officer who handled our case was courteous and quick in the interview itself, and we were really grateful to have her considering some of the other reviews we read.
