Overall very smooth process. Stayed at the Best Western 1 block from the consulate as my interview was at 9am. Checked out the consulate building the evening before my interview just to make sure I knew where I was going. Walked in the morning and got to the consulate doors 10 min before interview. Officer made me wait outside for 5 min. then let me in. Go thru airport style security and then up elevator to 1st floor. Immediately went to the first window to drop off my passport then sat down for 1 hour before getting called up to a different window where a friendly lady asked for the original docs I had brought including latest tax return for my wife. Sat back down for another hour before getting called up to a 3rd window for the actual interview. A different very friendly lady that asked when and where I had been married. When and where we met. What we both did for work. What my financial sponsor did for work. And finally where I had traveled internationally in the past 5 years. I said Mexico and US. She then asked what my longest stay in US had been and I told her 6 months during covid. She said OK and handed me my welcome letter and said I was good to go. Thankyou Jesus. Passport arrived 11 days later and we picked it up in the morning and drove to the border the same day. Paying the 200$ fee on the way. Border crossing to 10 min maybe. Officer asked for passports, took them inside and same back in a few minutes saying good to go. Did not check out any of our belongings in the back of the pickup. We've been in Michigan for 2 weeks and I just received my ssn in the mail. Still waiting for green card. Big thankyou to all the support from everyone on here. So helpful to connect with others that understand.
