Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Interview appointment: April 8, 07:15am, US Embassy Manila

Arrived 06:00am. We were allowed to enter at 06:30am. Upon entering they will ask for your passport and DS 260.

First step is the pre-screening. The lady in the window is a filipino speaker.
Documents asked were Passport, DS 260, my birth certificate (original), our marriage certificate (original), NBI (original), and Tax papers of my husband from IRS. Have a 2x2 picture ready as well. They might ask for it if theres a need like in my case. They will get the DS 260 from you and return the rest of the documents in a paper clip. They already arranged it for the interview consul. Make sure that if you leave the window for pre screening you dont have the DS 260 with you anymore because you wont be called for the interview if they didnt get it.

Next step is biometrics. Lady in the window is an english speaker.
My fingerprints on both hands and passport were scanned.

I was done and ready to be called for the interview by 07:15am

Window blinds for the interview didnt open until 08:00am. There are only 2 windows open. Youre name will be called out loud for this step.

I was called for the interview at around 08:30am. The consul is a man and is an english speaker.

After the oath taking. First thing he asked for is my passport and then documents arranged at pre screening. Then I was given a domestic violence pamphlet in return. He quickly explained whats in the pamphlet when I said okay he asked me to repeat what he just told me and so I did. Then the interview begun.
Questions asked were:
• Where did you meet your husband?
• Is he previously married? / Are you previously married? (He asked for my CENOMAR)
• Does your husband have kids? / Do you have kids?
• How many times have he visited you?
• What's your husband's job?
He gave my documents back and told me he will recommend my visa already (means Ive been approved)
He told me to get the immigration details paper from the corner of his window and to call the number on the paper to confirm my delivery address. Passport will be delivered in a couple weeks, he said.

Tips: There were couple of people before me who got denied. Be sure you have a complete document when you come for your interview. If you were previously married prepare divorce/separation papers, if youre a widow prepare death certs, CENOMAR is often asked too, make sure your papers are valid and up to date like NBI or medical exams. One missing document can make your application denied. Try to remain calm and be confident in answering.

And of course, have faith and pray. If it's God's will its gonna happen, in His perfect time 😊
