My interview was scheduled during the Hong Kong protests, right before the COVID-19 outbreak happened. The flow of entering the embassy is still quite smooth except I had to walk all the way to Hong Kong station (subway) to leave my handbag at a locker facility because they deemed it too big to bring inside (it was just a typical bucket bag) but my big folder holding all my documents in was okay.
I got inside in time but got interviewed later than my appointment time only because they opened and had people at the windows late. There were only a few of us waiting and each inspection of documents and interviews went quickly.
The questions asked seemed ridiculous for common sense but I later thought it did make sense if you're checking to see that the applicant prepared the documents correctly and that the facts submitted are truthful and honest.
