Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interview time was at 12:45. We arrived at 12:30 and got checked in quickly. The waiting room was crowded with a naturalization ceremony apparently taking place that afternoon and the calling of names/numbers seemed a little chaotic. We waited about 25 minutes and we were then back with the interviewer. Our interviewer was friendly although down to business. As the petitioner I was told by our attorney that I wouldn't be asked a lot of questions but out of the gate the question of how our relationship started was directed at me and then after I was getting asked other questions too. We both told our story and answered some more conversational type questions but nothing that was too unexpected. I was asked why I haven't added my husband to the deed to our house which was the most surprising question since I don't know many people that go through those extra steps when they get married. But knowing we will likely move seemed to be a satisfactory answer for her. She then went through the application to verbally ask my husband some of the same questions that had been completed on the form. She then asked what we had brought for her and we gave her about 7 or so items showing our combining of lives and then that was it. Total interview time was only around 20 minutes. Our attorney asked her as we left if she had a decision and she said she needed to review things further and that we should get the decision in the mail sometime next week. Ugh. javascript:emoticon('') We checked the status online the following day though and it had actually been approved the same day!. javascript:emoticon('')
