I got to the embassy 15 minutes before my appointment and joined the big line for the desk outside, which made me slightly late by the time I got to the front but that wasn't a problem. Handed DS - 160 and passport over and joined the line for the security check. Once through there I headed to the next building and jumped the queue straight to the reception there and they gave me my number sticker and told me to head to floor 1 and turn left and left to the immigration waiting room which was easy enough to find.

I sat and waited for my number for about 10 minutes and went to the booth to hand over my paperwork and get finger printed. I was worried about the affidavit of support because my fiance is retired disabled from the Marine Corps so he doesn't have conventional income and his income is un-taxable so he doesn't have tax returns. So the supporting information we gave them was a signed statement from a bank officer stating his balance and the total deposits for the last year, a statement from the DVA stating his monthly retirement benefit amount, a signed letter from when he was officially permanently retired disabled, last 6 months of bank statements and a notarised letter from my fiance swearing that he is not required to file tax returns (with attached evidence including the IRS 525 publication highlighting the area which states that VA disability benefits are tax exempt, and the letter from the DVA stating his monthly income + the nature of his benefits (permanent retirement 100% disability))

Then sat down again to wait about an hour for my number to be called again for my interview. At the interview I swore an oath and was asked:
"How did you meet?"
"How did you decide to visit for the first time?" (We met online)
"What are your wedding plans?"
"Has your fiance visited the UK?" and
"How did you get engaged?"
Then she said she was approving my visa and that was it! No questions or issues about the affidavit of support so obviously the supporting evidence we could get together was sufficient

All in all I was on the embassy grounds for just over 1.5 hours

Very very relieved and excited!!
