This is a review regarding my K1 visa interview at the London consulate on January 2019.
I arrived 30 minutes early to the security post outside of the embassy. It’s took me about 10 minutes to get through. The check was thorough.
As I had a K1 visa scheduled appointment, I was directed to skip the queue waiting to get access into the building and go straight to the reception desk. I waited a couple of minutes for an agent to be available, and them was instructed to go to the appropriate floor. Take note of where the reception agent directs you to go, There are multiple waiting areas for different visas and interviews in the building.
When I was there, the immigrant visa interviews were conducted on the same floor as tourists and other visas. HOWEVER, K1 visas (among a few others) have a separate waiting room, with separate counters and agents. The reception agent’s instruction’s will suffice on how to find this area.
After waiting and following my ticket number on the screens, I was called to a counter. The person on this counter was European, and cordial. We had a brief conversation during which she reviewed all of the documents I brought in, some supporting documents, translations, photos, my passport photos, mandatory evidence and other supporting evidence I had brought with me. She took most of them and put them in an envelope and asked me to wait to be called again.
After waiting to be called again, I met a second agent. She was American. Her demeanour was very dry, thorough, efficient and to the point. She went over my documents and then conducted my interview. I presume she was the actual USCIS agent. The interview took about 15 -20 minutes. Once it finished, I was told that I was approved unless they couldn’t give it to me for some unforeseen reason.
I must have spent about 2 hours total in the embassy from arrival to walking out.
I received my visa via courier ten days later.
