The process is pretty straightforward. When you arrive at the embassy gates, the applicant will need to show the sticker placed on their passport from the biometric appointment to gain access. Once in, you'll stop at a set of tables outside the security screening area where your documents are reviewed to ensure you've brought everything. We were asked specifically for the letter from my employer at this step, so it might make sense for you to bring this along with you as I did. Since we showed up about an hour early, we were asked to wait here until it was closer to our scheduled interview time.

After this step, we passed security and was told to deactivate our mobile devices upon entry and to wait at a set of chairs just beyond security. A quick note: everything takes place outdoors, including the final interview, so be sure to dress appropriately. I would also recommend bringing along some items to keep you busy such as some books or a deck of cards since you won't be able to use your phones. We had our documents checked again by a woman behind a window and then given a number to wait in the final line for our interview.

After waiting 3 hours for the interview step, we finally were interviewed by an agent behind glass windows. The agent never asked to speak with me (the petitioner) but he asked the basic questions about our relationship and about my fiance's life. The agent did take some time looking at all of the photos we submitted with the original I-129F, and it appeared that sped things along because our interview was shorter than some of the others we had witnessed. After about 15 minutes, we were approved and advised that the visa would be ready in 1 to 2 weeks and that we would be notified by email when it was ready.
