The appointment with my step daughter was 9/13. I flew in to JA on 9/12- took the 3 hour drive to Kingston so I could be by her side. Our appointment was for 7:30. We got a little lost but still arrived by 7. We got in line and were among the 1st inside. I left my bag in the car only carrying my paperwork so there was no delay. We checked in and were sent to the waiting area. We sat there about 30 minutes before they began calling people up to the window at 7:45. We were called around 8:15. (I went with my stepdaughter and her mother) They allowed all 3 of us at the window. They took our ID's and my step daughter's birth certificate. Then they told us to have a seat and wait to be called again. About an hour later we were called back up and had to identify ourselves. Her mother had to take the oath for her since she is only 8. They asked me if my husband and I file our taxes together or separately- I advised separately. Then I was told that even though my income alone exceeds the requirements he still has to submit and I864A form. They kept my stepdaughters passport and gave me a paper with their email address to send the information. She said as soon as they received it they will send us notification on when to pick up the visa. I sent it in the paperwork the same day. We are waiting for an update. Hoping it doesn't take up to 60 days :-(
