Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was not allowed into the building with my fiance during his interview. His interview was scheduled for 1:50, and he was finished after approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. The interview consisted of three different stages. The final stage was an interview with an American adjudicator. My fiance said that the staff he met with were professional and polite. The interviewer seemed pleased that our documents were well-organized according to their instructions. They did inquire about our co-sponsor's most recent tax transcript, which we did not have because the I-134 directions do not explicitly request it. Otherwise, the questions were straight-forward and as expected. We provided additional evidence to document our relationship, but the consulate did not collect these documents. We were disappointed that the interviewer did not tell us if the visa was approved or not at the end of the interview; I'd heard that many people receive an immediate decision. However, by the end of the week, his K1 visa was approved and we were able to pick up his passport at a distribution center in Taipei. Overall, our experience with AIT has been positive. Communication with the office was never difficult, and his visa was processed efficiently.
