Review Topic: K1 Visa

So me, my fiancé and our baby arrived at 7:25 for an 8 o’clock appointment. There were about four lines outside in front of the embassy and many people already inside. We asked one of the representatives that were directing people which line is for our visa type (K1) and he directed us to one of the shortest lines. Note: Have passport, appointment letter, & Ds-160 Confirmation Page in hand at all times as they will ask for it during every step. Next, we passed security by entering a first building. There was another line for that too but everything moved swiftly from there. After security, you step outside to an outdoor, cafeteria-looking waiting area. It is organized into three sections based on the type of visa. We followed the line that was directly outside leading us to one of the representatives who then asked us for the appointment sheet. Were asked to take a seat in one of the rows on a set of benches and wait for our row to get called in order to get to the actual embassy. We were in the third row. They called the first row after about 4-5 minutes but they asked us to go in with them because we had the baby. We then entered the building and waited on a small line to receive a ticket number (we got ticket #080) and then directed to another line where we would then present original documents at a window. When we got to the window, they asked for his Original Birth Certificate, his passport, and the results for the medical exam. He gave my fiance a pamphlet to read about domestic violence and we were then asked to wait in the main waiting area for our number to be called. After about 40 minutes of waiting, our number was finally called. The consular officer was very polite and kind and sort of warming. We felt comfortable answering her questions.
Questions asked:
1. When & how did we meet ?
2. How do we communicate ?
3. How many times did I travel ?
4. Describe our relationship.
5. More things pertaining our specific situation. Our interview lasted a bit more than the norm because we had some complications with my fiance’s past visa. We brought a WHOLE BUNCH of evidence and she didn’t ask for absolutely any of it. After about twenty minutes at the window, she congratulated us and apologized for the wait then handed us a white sheet of paper with instructions on how to sign up to get the passport delivered. She said it would take 2-3 weeks to get delivered. We thanked her and were on our way. Overall the whole process lasted about two hours because of the lines and waiting but it was ALL worth it. NO MORE SLEEPING ALONE !! 😁😁😁 *Good luck to whoever reads this and always remember to PRAY, it helps alot.
