We arrived at 4 20am. There were about twenty something people in line already. The wait till they let us into the building wasn't too bad. There was a viejo selling te and cafe. I highly recommend the tea. It is very yummy.
Anyways, they starting checking passports at around 6 15 and started collecting blue slips at 6 40. We were in the building at 7 10. Ladies make sure you don't have too much junk in your handbag because security takes EVERYTHING out and inspects each item one by one. So, the more stuff you have in your bag,the longer it will take them to go through it.
At 8 15 we were called to window 14 by name. The gentleman at this window collected the application forms,864 including tax info and w2, the 2x2 photos, medical results, cedula, and my novios passport. I gave a photocopy of the 864 so I can use the original for AOS. The copy was accepted. We were given a number and told to watch and listen for it.
At 9 10 we were called to window 13 for fingerprints. At 10 15 we were called to window 17. We had a very pleasant female consular officer conduct the interview. She first said hello to us both in Spanish. She then asked if I spoke Spanish and I told her yes. She then asked me the following questions in English.
How did someone from Zimbabwe end up with a Dominican?
Were you living in DR or just visiting when you met?
What did you do for work when you lived in DR?
Have you parents him?
What do they think the two of you getting married?
She then asked us both to raise our right hand and swear that everything in the application was true. She passed back the `passport, cedula and the photos that I had sent with my original application. She also passed the 156K and told my novio to fill in my name and sign and date at the bottom. She took that
back and pulled out a green slip and passed it through and said felicidadez su visa ha sido aprobada. congratulations. And informed us to go pay the domex fee.
It was quick and painless. She didn't ask for any additional evidence nor pictures. And didn't ask mi novio any questions.
Everyone in the consulate was very pleasant!
