My fiancee left Miraflores about 630 am and arrived at the consulate around 7 am (about 75 minutes before her scheduled interview). After waiting in line for about 15 minutes, a man checked her passport and appointment letter and assigned her number 7. She then entered the embassy and waited for about 30 minutes before being called by window 13. Windows 11-14 handle K1 and K3 visas. My fiancee was the 7th in line for windows 11-14.
A poker faced, Peruvian woman asked for the DS-156,DS-156K, I134 and supporting documentation, the 3 police certificates(criminal, police and judicial), photos, birth certificate and medical envelope. She then asked my fiancee a series of questions, some of which made her nervous since the people waiting in line could hear every word.
1. What is Jon\'s job?, where does he live?, and how many times did he visit?
2. Where did you meet?
3. What is your job?
4. Does Jon have kids?, how many times has he been married?
5. Why do you want to marry him and what do you like about him?
6. You are getting married so soon, are you sure you know him?
7. Jon lasted 10 years but produced no children. Why?
My fiancee than sat down and waited about 10 minutes. Then she was called to door 15. The woman in room 15 was an american and my fiancee says she was very pleasant and made her feel at ease. Her fingerprints were taken. Noone could hear at this point either. This person was also separated by thick glass. She asked fewer questions than the 1st woman and these were almost identical. My fiancee slid a small bag of pictures under the glass.
After this, around 845 am, the American woman said \\\"your Visa is approved\\\"!!!
After the interview my fiancee paid 16 soles in the DHL office. She picked up
here Visa at the DHL office 2 days later on the 28th. I will be flying to
peru on April 12 and bringing her back on April 15. We paid $2200 for those
tickets!! It turned out to be no cheaper buying them in Peru, so I earned
some frequent flyer miles on American Airlines. These two 6 hr flights from
Lima to Miami will be awesome, especially the return flight.
