Hi everyone,
My interview was on May 21st, 2019. Reading these reviews was so helpful to me so I thought I’d write about my experience. To be honest, I really enjoyed my morning there. I read about the first come, first served policy on this forum, and planned to be early. My appointment was at 8:00am but I arrived at around 7:00am. I had my 1 year old infant with me. I ended up being 1st. I made a friend in line, this sweet woman who was making my baby laugh. I had read on here that you should chat with the others just to have the time go by faster and to ease your mind of worry, and that’s exactly what it did! I felt barely stressed at all after laughing and conversing with my new friend. I brought the bare minimum to the Embassy. My paperwork in a folder, diapers & change pad for baby, and a little bag of Cheerios for her. All in a reusable grocery bag. I had to bring my cellphone since I took an Uber to the Embassy, but they didn’t mind storing it for me. I stayed at a AirBnB about 8 minutes from the Embassy. Everything went very smoothly. After security I was sent downstairs to organize my paperwork. Had everything in order in a couple minutes and then waited. The security guard then had all of us enter the elevator at once and we went up to the 19th floor. The system was down that morning so I think they started calling us at 8:15 (usually it’s around 8:00 as per the security guard). I was called first, handed the sweet lady at the counter what she asked for, and after being finger printed I sat back down. To anyone with kids: they have lots of books and toys, which was so thoughtful and kept my baby occupied. About 30 mins later I was called up for my interview. I was pleased to be greeted by the sweetest lady who was so kind. She asked me if my baby was the result of my marriage. To which I responded yes and offered her long form birth certificate. She was pleased and handed it back. She asked me how my husband and I met, and asked me about my husbands prior marriage and divorce. That was it. Congratulations and welcome to the USA! It was painless. Be organized with documents and go early! Good luck!
