My interview was at 1pm and I got there around 12.30pm. I had to travel 3 hours from my hometown to the embassy by train. The night before the interview, I realised that I do not have a translated copy of my birth certificate. I did hours of research and found out that I can get it extracted from any JPN in Malaysia. Once I got to Kuala Lumpur, I took a grabcar to UTC Pudu and it took around 15 minutes to get the new version of birth certificate which is bilingual.

When I got to the embassy, many people were already queuing outside the gates (large families). It was finally my turn and I had to show them my appointment letter and IC. I was given a tag then I was instructed to go into a room and get my things checked. I handed in my electronics and cables. I was allowed to bring in my handbag and my bag of folders/documents.

After security checking, I went into the building and a young lady gave me a checklist. She asked me to arrange all my documents in order and NOT to place them in a folder. Next, I was called into the other room and received my number. I waited in line to get my documents handed in. After that, I sat down and waited for my turn for the actual interview.

I was called after 20 minutes of waiting. The interviewer was very friendly. He asked me a few questions which were
1. How did you and your fiance meet?
2. At what point it was romantic?
3. When did you meet face to face?
4. Do you have any photo evidence?

I brought a huge photo album (caught him off guard lol) and showed him all the pictures (around 6 pictures each year from 2015-2019). He said "So he has visited you 5 times?" I said yes and he was like "Oh that's great!". He told me that he cannot approve me yet because of my pending medical examination (a long story for another time) which I had to wait for 8 weeks. He assured me that everything looks really good and I just need to wait.

My experience this time was very pleasant and huge thumbs up to all the staff that works in the embassy! Very polite and professional! Keep up the good work !
