I really can’t complain too much about our experience. Our interview had to be rescheduled 3 times due to Sputum test, and embassy training schedule. However Once we finally arrived we were initially confused as there were no clear instructions or signage available for those arriving for their appointments. There was a couple hundred people already lined up once we got there. Filipinos love queuing up early. Which makes no difference as you aren’t allowed in until15 minutes prior to your appointment time. In our case we spent 15-20 minutes just trying to figure out which door or line was for appointments. Important to remember that people visit for a variety of embassy business, I.e, birth registrations, tourist visa, immigrant visa, K1 visas and much more. I do think it helped that I went with my fiancé as being a US citizen go us in front of the crowd. In fact we never had to wait long at all. Our time was very brief, less than 30 minutes once we made it through the door until the interview was complete. A couple quick observations I made were those applicants arriving with their citizen sponsor seemed to get approved quicker and with far less hassle. Though the interviewing officer will make the citizen sit down to wait. I suspect it’s to protect the integrity of the interview and guard against any potential fraud. Secondly all the filipinas I saw were VERY visibly nervous. That’s understandable considering the nature of what they are trying to do. People should just try to relax and don’t get intimidated. Though it’s easy to see why cause some of the interviewers didn’t seem too friendly. I saw a couple ladies get flat out denials, while others had to return with additional documentation. But the vast majority were approved. My fiancé got asked only 5-6 questions and she was done. There’s only a few stations to go through beginning with the pre-interview process, documents check, interview and fingerprints. All in all we were happy with the process, and thankfully don’t have to repeat it. Just be sure to come prepared with all or your documents. In fact bring more than you need. Remember YOU must prove the validity of the relationship and don’t lie or be untruthful and you should do fine.
