All in all it was a very simple process.
They asked for my passport and DS-160 confirmation page (with my photo and barcode) at security. Then I had to do a quick security check, similar to an airport. Then went through with a big group of people who's interviews were at a similar time to mine. This whole process took about 25 minutes and was mostly just waiting in lines.
After all the sercurity had been done we were directed up to the 1st floor by a lift, then I went to a different desk as most other people were there for short term visas. At the next desk they asked for my passport, my DS-160 page, my proof of support (i-134), and my ACRO police certificate. Once these had been gathered together they gave back everything except the I-134 which they kept, and asked me to take a seat and wait for the number they gave me to be called. I was probably waiting for another 10-15 minutes when my number was called. I went up to another booth with a very nice lady who asked if I had met my fiancee before, where, when and how many times? Then she gave back all of the photos we had sent in for evidence of our relationship, and said that they had to wait for my medical report to be sent into the embassy (as I was unable to book the medical far enough in advance) and once they had that they would email to inform me of the visa approval.
Obviously it can be a little nerve wracking going into something like this when you don't know what it will be like. But all in all everybody there was really nice and extremely helpful, so if you turn up with everything they tell you to bring with you in the confirmation email you should be in and out pretty quickly and with no problems.
