hi guys, I did my interview yesterday at the embassy. I had a 7:15am interview I arrived at 6:40. Parking is a bit more helpful with the guys along the road even though it comes at a fee. We had to stand across from the embassy on a median which was a bit inconvenient for me due to the fact I have the flu and it was raining on and off. Around 7:15 we were called to line up and go through security at this point have your interview letter and passport out Its best to only have your paperwork and money with you or you will be told to go back outside and get rid of all prohibited items(pens, cell phones, makeup, etc). Once inside I was told to sit on the far right I waited for 15 mins and I was called by number to get my finger prints done by a very friendly lady at window 6. I was asked by her who was filing for me? If it was mine and my husbands first marriage? She took my original birth certificate and police certificate then told to sit and wait for my name to be called. I waited for little over an hour during that time I got even more nervous as a number of persons were turned down(a white man at window 12 who is very hard). My name was called by a stern looking black American woman turns out she was nice.I was asked
1) Who was filing for me?
2) What was my husbands address?
3)Do we have any children together?
4)How many times have we seen each other?
5) Have i travelled to any other country other than the US?
I was given a pamplet on domestic violence and she explained it a bit then she went back to typing her computor which was even more nerve racking because she kept looking at my paperwork and not saying anything,She then asked if i had any proof of our relationship so i asked if pictures was fine she said yes i gave her a stack i brought of wedding pictures and random ones of us at home and going out. She asked who was at the wedding? Only the two of us we eloped. She went back to typing then she sahe the words ive been waiting to hear so long "Welcome to the United States of America"....you will get your passport within a week. I was out the embassy by 10am. My advice is be prepared and know your stuff and try to relax and be pleasant.
