My interview was on November 28th, 2018 at 7:30am.
I stayed at an airbnb 3 minutes by and was able to walk to the consulate no problem. I arrived at around 7:10am, there were already 4 people in front of me. The consulate isn't open until 7:30am. Come bundled if you're planning on coming early, which I suggest doing. They won't let you in if you're appointment isn't within 30 minutes. A couple waiting outside were denied entry for a 8:30am appointment, they were told to come back in 30 minutes. When you walk through the entrance you'll be asked for your passport which they will then put a sticker on the back stating your time, date, and time of appointment. You're then given a laminated sheet of paper stating documents you'll need to put in a specific order to save time for the workers.
You'll then proceed towards the metal detectors. I wore no jewelry and only had my phone and wallet with me. They'll take your cellphone and give you a ticket so you can pick it up after the interview. DO NOT BRING A BAG. They will not let you in with a laptop bag or backpack, I did see some women bringing their purses, so I guess as its long not huge. After you go through the metal detectors you are sent downstairs, which contains an elevator leading directly to the 19th floor. Once you're at the 19th floor there are rows of chairs where you'll be able to organize your documents. Organizing of documents are as followed(not in specific order):
1. Laminated Sheet with your call number.
2. Passport and copy of passport
3. 2 passport photos
4. Medical exam
5. Original Birth certificate
6. Original Marriage certificate
7. Original Divorce certificate (for yourself, if applicable)
8. Original Police certificate
9. I-134 packet
10. Supporters last year tax return.
I had all of these but a photocopy of my passport.
I was #5, I waited around 30-40 minutes before being called up. When I was called up everything went smoothly even though I didn't have a photocopy of my passport (I hope it doesn't delay my visa being issued to me). The lady at the counter just asked me questions about my documents and collected them one by one. This process too around 10 minutes. Once it's done, she gives you a pamphlet about spousal abuse and writes your number on it. I was told to take a seat and the interviewer will call my number when ready. I waited another 20 minutes before I was called for the interview.
I think my interview was the shortest out of the 4 people in front of me. It took around 3 minutes.
I was asked the following questions:
1. What's your petitioners name?
2. How did you guys meet?
3. What's your address in Canada?
4. What's your intended address in USA?
5. Do you plan to stay at the intended US Address?
6. What does your Fiance do for work?
7. Have you ever stayed in the USA for longer than 6 months at one time?
8. What do you guys like to do together?
My fiance sent in a lot of pictures of us throughout our relationship, which I think helped with the process. They didn't ask for any evidence on my part, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Have things prepared! I was given two sheets, one pink and one white. It was basic information on tracking and a simple Welcome to the United States briefing.
I left, went to get myself a mocha and Shwartz, then drove back to Toronto.
