Hello Everyone. We’ve finally came to the end of my FB 1 journey, (well not quite, we have to leave Jamaica) but the hardest parts are now over with. Thank you Jesus 🙏🏽. Also many thanks you Visa Journey and members for the very informative information on this site. It was very helpful.
My family and I experience at the US Embassy in Kingston was very great. Here’s a timeline of the procedure we went through.

1. We reached the embassy at about 6am (interview was 8.15am) but we wanted to be extra early. We waited in the car until about 6.45am. Then went to wait across the street from the embassy.

2. At 7am the officer called the 8am appointments over to join the line at the front of the embassy.

3. While in the line they asked for our interview letter, passports and 2 photos

4. We then went inside where we had to remove our belts, jewellery, glasses etc to be scanned ( please DO NOT bring any phones, pens, lotions, lipgloss, food etc, ONLY YOUR DOCUEMNTS)

5. We then joined another line where a lady checked our interview letter and passports again, gave us a number ticket. She took our interview letter and told my family and I to go inside and sit on the right.

6. We sat at the right, where other persons were waiting. Bear in mind everyone can hear the consular officer and what you are saying to them. Even though some of them don’t speak that loud so others can hear, but some do speak quite loud. Just know nothing is really private.

7. My family and I waited for quite a while. Even though we had an 8.15am appointment. We were not called that time. Honestly we started to think
something was probably wrong. We had to wait for like an hour and 10 minutes.

8. Finally at about 9.50am our name was called. We went to an African American lady, who was very nice actually. She asked my dad most of the questions which was only like 3 questions. (Like what was his job, has he ever travelled and has he ever stayed longer than 9 months in any of he countries he travel to) She asked my little brother how he pronounced his name. And she asked me my age. She gave my dad and I (I’m 19) papers to sign, stating that we will not marry until we enter the states. She then took our photos and passports. Then she took our finger prints and that was it. We went to sit again. By the way, The consular officer was really nice, she laughed and smiled with us.

9. We thought we had to wait another hour again but luckily about 25 minutes later. We were called again. This time our consular officer was a Caucasian male. He swore us in . And he asked my dad most of the questions. Basically he same questions the first lady asked, and also what was his relationship to our sponsor. He asked my brother his age. He didn’t even ask me anything. To my surprise, He didn’t asked for any of our documents ( birth certificate, affidavit of support, confirmation page of Ds260, photos for evidence of relationship) absolutely nothing !! And after typing and stamping our documents. He told us our petition was approved and we will receive our visas in 1 week ! Our interview literally took like 3 - 4 minutes. My dad and I was literally shocked. Cause we expected so much more. But thanks be to God. Everything was like a breeze. We were out he embassy at about 10.15am

Our experience was really great, and I’m so happy we’re finally over with this part. I can’t say your experience will be the same, but I hope it will be similar.
Good luck to you all !!
