Review Topic: K1 Visa

Location: The embassy itself was easy enough to find. My interview was scheduled for 10:30, l'm from Victoria and caught a 6am flight from Melbourne, that was delayed, and made it to the MLC with over 2 hours spare to wander around. I took the 2 white flights of stairs from Martin Place side to get into the building, through the food court area. The elevators are inside and labelled by floors they go to, easy enough to find the right one 9-30something. I went up the lift around 9:55.

Security/level 10: Level 10 seemed to be a bit of a maze with interpassing corridors, just follow the signs and you will be fine. There was a sign with visas / us citizens take the left side of the line at the door, the security guard will as you to turn your phone off then you enter the security room, line up and hand over your documents to the ladies at the left counter. They will then tell you to line up at the security desk part where you put your bag and anything you aren't taking up with you. They asked me to remove any wires like chargers and headphones from my bag and my phone, these were then placed in a tub. My documents were placed in the other with the ones I was handed back, my watch (analogue) and my wallet.
I was asked to remove my shoes (ankle boots) for the scanner.
I was then given a card for the cubby locker where my bag was placed.

Level 59: After waiting in the security room for the elevator I went up with 1 other person. He had issues with the door... Not entirely sure what happened there, might have been locked? The ticket machine is just inside on the wall, select visa, take a seat and wait. I got my ticket at 10:08. I had to wait about 5 minutes before being called to a booth. They seemed to be organised in 3 sections, 1-5 in the first section before the seating, 6,7,8 in the seating area then the rest far right with the us citizen section. 8 was being used as a cashier for the us citizen section. 2 was being used for us citizens as well. The "booths" were facing the seats where people were waiting so we're pretty exposed. Booths 3-5 were being used for collection of documents and were a bit further away from the seating. When they collect the documents they ask for finger prints, take your documents and ask you to take a seat again. I think I waited about 45 minutes to be called up again. In that time they had opened up booth 1 and I was called there instead of the closer ones, it was much quieter over there by the windows.

The interview itself involved taking an oath, checking finger prints and answering questions.
I was asked:
How did you meet your fiance?
When did you start dating?
What does he do for a job? (Possibly because we used his dad as a cosponsor since he only got a job the week before the interview - they accepted the co sponsor and we didn't have any issue submitting his i134 saying he was unemployed I just explained that he JUST got a job and we didn't have time to collect evidence for it.
When was I planning on entering the states?
Had I been married before?
Do I have children?
Have I lived in any other countries?
My medical results made it to the embassy with plenty of time (medical was 11th Oct at sonic health plus in Melbourne)
That was about it, he then said my visa was approved and I should get it in 2-3 weeks!

Leave via security to collect bag and that's it! Done.

I took way too many documents with me. I was handed back the 2nd copy of the i134 evidence, they only took 1 months worth of bank details, not the full 12 months that were supplied. I did not get asked for additional relationship evidence, CV, NOA2 letter or evidence of the interview appointment, I also did not need a revalidation letter as we were within the 4 month period.
After the interview they gave me back my original birth certificate and police check (make sure it's the AFP one - this seemed to be an issue for some people who weren't approved)

I was in the embassy from 9:55 - 11:16
