I was so worried about the interview, but honestly this was the easiest part of the entire process. My appointment was scheduled for 10am on a Monday morning and I arrived a little after 9. I joined a queue at a small desk outside the embassy and after showing my passport and DS-260, was allowed straight inside. There was some airport style security just inside the door that was very easy to get through, then a walk up to the main reception area. There was a very large queue waiting here, but the lady at the desk called anyone doing an immigrant visa forward. She was extremely helpful and nice, clearly explaining where I needed to go. I took an elevator to the right of the desk to the first floor and then went all the way around to the left, to the immigrant interview section. I was sitting down for maybe five minutes when my number came up on a screen over an interview desk. The guy took my finger prints and asked for my birth certificate, marriage license and police certificate. He said that my attorney had not submitted my wife’s tax information, which is ridiculous cause I wouldn’t have gotten NVC approval without it. I believe that they’ve been having issues with their new system. However, I had a copy of the tax info with me, which the guy kept. I was told to sit down and wait to get called back up. I had been sat down for about twenty minutes when my number came up on a different desk. The lady asked me to confirm my finger prints, gave me back my certificates and asked only two questions, how did we meet and where will we be living. She got a bit excited when I told her we met through the Paramore Fan Club, as her brother knows Hayley Williams. It was the most relaxed interview EVER! After maybe sixty seconds she told me it was approved and I’d get my visa in seven to ten days. I was in shock! After waiting soooooo long for this stage, it was over so quickly! (Most of it was us talking about Paramore). I went home and my visa arrived ten days later. As long as you’re organised and bring all the paperwork needed with you, you’ll be fine! Cannot stress how easy this part is!... if you’re looking for somewhere to stay near the embassy, I would suggest the Nine Elms Holiday Inn, it’s clean, cheap and only a two minute Uber away (I even got back in time for the free breakfast I’d been too nervous to eat beforehand).
