I flew to Manila to attend the U.S. Embassy Interview with Rowell.
His interview time was at 6:40 am so we arrived at the Embassy at 5:30am and there was already a line of over 100 people waiting outside. We paid 30 pesos each for two chairs to sit in while we were waiting. We also paid 20 pesos for a ballpoint pen just in case we needed it (we didn't). At around 6 am the guards came out and we started to go in. Rowell needed to show his appointment confirmation letter and the DS-160 confirmation just to get in the door. There were 3 steps once we were inside: 1. Prescreening, 2. Fingerprinting, 3. Interview.
During the prescreening, they asked to see his DS-160 confirmation, birth certificate, CENOMAR, and NBI clearance. They also wanted the sealed medical results from St. Luke's. After prescreening, we did the fingerprinting, then waiting in another line to be called for the interview. The interview went smoothly and Rowell was asked about 10 questions about our relationship, and then the consular agent said he was approved! We left the Embassy around 9am. I felt like the fact I was able to go to the Embassy with him made a difference in how smoothly everything went.
Oh and they said he should receive his passport with the visa in 5-10 working days.
