If you're prepared this will be the easiest part of the journey. My interview was on October 17th. To start off, the Consulate is like on the side of a main street, if our Uber driver didn't point it out we wouldn't have noticed it. Although there was already a line up outside. The security guard was nice enough, he slowly let people in when it was time for your interview. There is a person at the entrance who looks at your passport, puts a sticker on the back, gives you a laminated piece of paper. Then you go though "airport" security, you empty your jacket pockets of everything, put all your belongings into a box, goes through. You get a ticket for your electronics, keep this with you.
First everyone was told to go downstairs and wait in a room, here you can organize your paperwork the laminated paper will tell you what you need. Then the guard will tell you when you can go upstairs - you take the elevator up to the 19th floor. The view is awesome.
Your laminated paper will have a number on it. When you're upstairs they will start calling numbers and telling you which window to go to. This is the part where someone asks for the forms, she was very nice. She also took my fingerprints electronically. I gave her my privacy act check, she did not ask for anything else. I was WAY over prepared, but she did ask if I had any other supporting evidence of my finance's income, so I gave her his letter from work, bank statements, tax information. Then she told me to go take a seat and my number will be called again.
A couple minutes later I was called, went to a different window. The lady was very nice again. First thing she asked me for was an oath with my right hand (like an idiot I raised my left lol). I was so nervous, but she just laughed. Then she asked me to do my fingerprints again. She seen my ring and asked what the stone was and why I picked it. Then she asked me
-How we met (tumblr)
-What type of posts did he make
-What his name is
-What he does for work
-Where he lives
-Have I ever been in trouble with the police
-Have I ever been stopped at the border (I told her yes, then explained because I told them I was visiting my fiancé to fill out the visa forms) she asked they let me through, I said yes. There was no worries then.
And that was it.
She lifted up a piece of white paper then pink, and I kinda went spacey with excited lol I don't remember what she said exactly but something along the lines of my application being accepted, and to expect my visa to arrive within two weeks. I gathered my belongings then headed back out the way we came. I handed the guard downstairs my ticket and he gave us our phones back.
I would suggest getting the earlier interview times, as it seem the afternoons are busier. As long as you're prepared and have all the checklist paperwork you will be 100% fine!
