Had my interview this morning at 8am EST.
We got to the consulate around 7:45am and there were already a few people waiting in line. The security guard began to let people in based on their appointment times, so myself and another woman were directed to go in before the people in front of us. The check-in lady asked for my passport right away and I was directed to go through security. I didn’t bring my phone, so I put my binder and wallet inside a bin and walked through the metal detector.
They give you a laminated paper with a number and a list of documents required for K1’s. Once through security, I took the elevator up to the 19th floor and took a seat. They began calling numbers to assigned cubicles where they asked for your documents and took your fingerprints. After that, numbers were called again to a different cubicle where the actual interview took place. Here are the questions I was asked:
1. How did you and your fiancé meet?
2. What does he do for work?
3. When did you decide you wanted to get married?
4. Have your parents met?
5. What are your wedding plans?
6. What was your longest stay in the US?
7. Have you ever been denied at the border?

The lady who interviewed me was super friendly and made me feel comfortable in such a “serious” environment. She smiled and said everything looked old and handed me a piece of paper!
Overall, I spent exactly an hour at the consulate from beginning to end!
The entire process was seamless (As long as you have all required documents ready) and quick!

FYI regarding police checks: I had both the privacy act check and certified criminal record check with me, and they only took the privacy act one. They actually gave me the other check back!
