My fiancee reports that her experience with the US Embassy in Bangkok Thailand is similar to the others reported here for the same Embassy. She arrived at approximately 6:15AM for her scheduled interview appointment at 7:00AM. She contacted me at about 8:30AM BKK time that she had complete her interview and was verbally told she had received approval. Her total time inside the embassy was under 1 1/2 hours.
During the final stage of the interview she was asked the standard 3 questions (Where did you meet, where does your Finance work, and where does he live). She described her interviewer as a "farang" with a bald head and a good heart. Over all, she said the interview process was a lot less stressful than she was expecting. That was likely because she was well prepared with a complete set of documents and with a 5 year relationship between she and I, she had a sufficient relationship evidence package backing up the K1.
One item I can add that I have not seen mentioned previously is that the CD ROM which was packaged by Bumrungrad Hospital in their sealed envelope was returned to my fiancee at the conclusion of the interview. I have since confirmed with some other applicants that this is normal. My understanding is the only documents that the Embassy retained was her current and valid passport and the remainder of the Medical Packet. All documents in Packet 4 and Evidence of Relationship where otherwise returned to her at the end of the interview. She was told to expect to received her Passport with K1 Visa back in approximately one week.
During inspection of her Packet 4 documents, my fiancee reported that they were primarily focused on verifing her "original" Birth certificate and "original" Single Status paper. My assumption is that since the remainder of Packet 4 (other than the included original certified translations of the Birth certificate and Single Status paper) are copies of the documents in Packet 3, they did not take much effort in reviewing them a second time. In fact, they returned the set of Passport Photos we included in Packet 4 stating the passport photos we included in Packet 3 were sufficient for their needs. That being said, this is NOT a recommendation or suggestion that a complete Packet 4 is not important. I am sure there are situations where the documents in Packet 4 are necessary (such as if documents were damaged in transit during shipment of Packet 3).
Our evidence included a Phone Call log, complete passport stamps showing my entry and exit to Thailand to visit with her, matching Airline Itineriaries, hotel reservations at a hotel near her home town (one visit to her mother on each of my visits), an airline booking receipt to Phuket with both her name and my name, a set of matching passport stamps for a visit to Siam Reap Cambodia that we made together, and a collection of about 10 photographs of my fiancee and I together. As a cover page to the evidence I created a one page summary listing each visit with duration and address where we resided during the stay. (My stays have averaged 2 months to 6 months each visit). I consider our evidence was very strong. We documented in summary with items listed above living nearly 24 months together in Thailand. One thing I did NOT include were copies of chat logs. With all of the other evidence we had, I did not want to mess with it and figured I would spare the Embassy their time reading thru them.
