The operational process itself was ok. We arrived at the location very early and were forced to wait outside by the alley behind the building. Others started to form a line and it was fine. We were then escorted into the building and taken upstairs into a waiting room with a few interview windows. I forgot his name but they had a young man assist us during the process to make sure everything was filled out correctly and he was VERY nice and VERY informative. He did a great job.
As far as the interview goes we were asked about 3 very generic questions and then the officer denied our visa based on some information he had on the computer. We tried to rebut the information based on paperwork we had but he wasn't listening and didn't care much for it. I was extremely frustrated at this point, I kept my cool but it was his lack of empathy and lack of willingness to listen to us that frustrated me.
He had already made up his mind on our case before we were ever at the window.
We were handed a green piece of paper and the officer said to email any evidence we had to an email that was listed. We thought this was a blackhole and a waste of time but we did it anyway as soon as we got back to the hotel just to prove a point.
WELL, it turns out the evidence I had on me was sufficient and without any notice at all we received her visa in the mail about 2 weeks later (when they returned her passport)
Overall I'm happy that we got the visa, the operational part of the process is fine, but the treatment we got from the officer was mediocre. I understand he has a job to do but at least take a look at what we have in our hands as evidence PLEASE. The dread of being rejected and having to wait for her passport was AWFUL. We even started to make plans for our life and moving etx based on the rejection only to find out two weeks later that everything was fine.
