I accompanied my wife (beneficiary) to the interview. We arrived around 6:50 for a 7:20 appointment. There are two lines outside the consulate - one for immigrant and one for non-immigrant visas. Around 7am they let the immigrant visa applicants inside and started reviewing our documentation. They ask for the documents in a particular order (which I believe you can find on the consulate site). The attendant checks your paperwork after rearranging and asks you to sit. Around 7:45 they started calling people up to a window to review the paperwork in detail. This part was in Portuguese. After this review, we sat and waited again to be called for the interview. I was able to enter with my wife for the interview. The interview itself was quick, hardly felt like more than 5 minutes. It was all very orderly, although it felt like it took forever to get to the actual interview. We were approved and out the door by 8:45am. Read the website and follow their checklist - they did not ask for anything beyond what was listed. I overheard some conversations where people did not seem to have the documents requested, such as photographs and copies. Bring a copy of everything. There are places just outside the consulate to get photos and make copies.
