Had an appointment at 11am, showed up at 10:5am and was out by 11:55am! I found the embassy easy to get to from Vauxhall underground station, took my husband and I about 5 minutes to walk there along the Thames. They simply checked our info (My appointment info, DS260, passport & husbands passport) at the tent outside the embassy security entrance. We proceeded through airport style security, and to the main building. There were very few queues- only one or two groups ahead of us at each checkpoint.
The lady at the main front desk was very friendly and checked my documents again, put a sticker with my number on it, and directed us to the appropriate waiting room on the first floor. You just need to keep an eye on the main tv screens to know what desk to go to. The smaller ones above the actual windows weren’t working all that well. My number was called up within a few minutes. A very sweet lady checked all my paperwork required (birth certificate, ACRO, marriage certificate) she didn’t need the originals for my i864. Took my passport and scanned a copy of my individual passport photo. She casually asked questions like where I’m moving to, scanned my fingerprints, and told me to sit down and wait to get called up again for the second part. She kept originals (that were handed back to me after I was done).
The longest wait was the next part, largely because one couple got grilled for longer than average. One other girl went before me, and our “interviews” both lasted a shorter amount of time. When called up my fingerprints were scanned again, and I had to hold my right hand up and swear I was telling the truth. Then she simply asked me how we met (online), when we first met in person, and where I’ll be living. It was over lightening fast. My medical hadn’t arrived but because it was a week earlier she told me it would be arriving in the next day or so, and should expect my passport back in 1-2 weeks.
Everyone was super friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and overall the most pleasant part of the whole paperwork and immigration experience!
