If you are lucky enough to be having an interview here you can relax!
The staff here are professional, kind and welcoming.
My Fiance (US citizen) was permitted to accompany me through the entire process, which certainly helped with the nerves.
When you first arrive you need to present your passport, appointment letter and DS 160 at a little pop up stand outside they write on your appointment letter ; you are then directed through the doors into security. It's just like the airport security( put stuff in the tray and walk through the xray thingy)
A quick walk up to the main building and into reception where your asked to show your appointment letter and you are issued with a number. You take the lift to the 1st floor and when it opens you are told by reception to go to the left and around the corner, the room is bright and welcoming. once around the corner you will see what looks like a row of bank counter type cubicles known as the interview windows (this will make sense when you see it I promise ). You then sit and wait for your number to appear on the screen along and you go to the window. The chappie who dealt with us was very friendly and was happy for my Fiance to stand alongside me. He asked for my birth certificate, divorce papers, passport and DS 160 took copies and returned the originals of everything but the passport which gets retained He got my medical file and gave me a disc, which is a copy of the Xray I had at the medical. He made what we both felt was small talk at the time but looking back it was actually questions ... duh us lol.
Like how long was my Fiance here for? Had I been to the US before? Do you have children?
We were then told to take a seat and wait for our number to come up. (on our way to the "left " of the room we saw actual interview rooms so we both thought I would be going into one of them) So I was surprised to be called back to the interview window, this time by a lady who was professional welcoming and friendly. She called my Fiance over too and said you can join us. we were asked to give an oath to tell the truth (she told us what to say we repeated it) then came the questions......Well first we were asked where my Fiance lived ...I have to say I thought ooooh I know this one me me so we both answered at the same time hehehe Then how did we meet and how long had we been together.
We both stood waiting for the next round of questions ....I was like ...im ready hit me with it and she simply smiled and said i'm delighted to tell you your visa is approved. We both stood open mouthed ..I think I said really ...that's it all done ...omg and then hugs and tears (us not the lady) and then we thanked her about 10 times lol.
My advice is don't panic, make sure your paperwork is in order and you will be fine
