My K1 interview went very well. It went way better than expected.
I was excited and nervous at the same time. My appointment was at 10:30 and queued at 10:00 to get in to the South Pavilion of the US Embassy in London then went through the airport style security check. Once I was through security, I went through the building and straight to the reception. I saw quite a lot of people queuing but I was told not to queu and just to straight to the receptionist informing them that I have an appointment for an immigrant visa. The receptionist then gave me a ticket number and told me to go to Level 1. My ticket also suggested where to sit and which window I will be seen by the officer/interviewer. I was probably in within 10 minutes from outside the embassy to my seat waiting for my turn to be interviewed.
I waited for about 10-15 minutes until my ticket number came up. A male officer greeted me and congratulated my engagement. He then requested me the required documents (ACRO/police record, original birth certificate, I-134 form, my fiance's tax recent tax return, 1 photo and DS-160 confirmation). He asked when I am planning to move to America and then asked me to sit and that they will call be back again.
I waited for about another 5 minutes then a nice lady asked me the following questions:
1. Have you had any trouble with immigration or the police?
2. Where does your fiance live?
3. When did you first meet? I said back in 2006 and she asked me a follow up question asking how we got in touch again. I said we have been in a relationship throughout 11 years.
She then said, '' We will issue your visa and you should receive it within 2 weeks''.
I was surprised that it was that quick. I then thanked her.
By 10:35, I'm out of the embassy. I really enjoyed my experience and wished I did not overthink or stressed too much about the whole K1 visa process.
I hope anyone reading this will find my review helpful. Also, please do not stress yourself too much!
All the best!
