Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our interview for adjustment of status in Atlanta last week on May 24th.

Despite being super nervous, it was surprisingly painless. We were scheduled for 9:55AM and were seen at 10:20AM. The interview only took about 25 minutes. The lady swore us in, went over the basic questions from our application (Eg, have you ever committed genocide. lol), then asked us questions about how we met, where we were married, did we go on a honeymoon. She asked me what my husband (the USC) did and what our current living situation was. She took a few things from our compiled evidence and told us she was approving us.

The only slight hiccup was that I had gotten a traffic citation recently. YOU 100% HAVE TO DECLARE TRAFFIC CITATIONS EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED TO GO TO COURT FOR THEM! I hesitated on that question because of the culture barrier and wasn't really sure what to say. It was no big deal, they jsut want to make sure you've paid for it, or are intending to pay for it, and to record what it was for.

She also recommended we start compiling evidence for the removal of conditions NOW so that there are no hiccups in 2 years time.

After telling us we would receive my GC in 1-2 weeks I panicked a bit when the online status didn't update at all, however it finally did last night (the 30th) to say that my GC is already in the mail.

Ultimately it was pretty painless, just need to make sure you bring everything you can to the interview because you never know what they are going to want evidence of.
