My fiancee and I arrived at the consulate at about 7:10 for the scheduled 7:20 interview. Her ID was checked against a list by a person outside to ensure it was the correct date. There were about 6 of us waiting outside for the 7:20 interview time. The gate was opened and we proceeded together upstairs to a waiting area with about 40 chairs. There was a short video and some instructions for organizing the papers.

In front of the plastic chairs were a group of divided booths with plastic windows. People were arranged in order of finishing the organization of their paperwork. When person was called, you hand the clerk your passport and papers, and fingerprints are taken. The clerk will keep the papers and passport to give to the interviewer.

After another wait of about 10 minutes we were called to a second booth that is completely seperated. A very nice man was there who we took to be an immigation judge. Since I was with my fiancee we were sworn in by him, in English and Portuguese respectively. He asked where we met and how many times we had visited, both the US and Brazil, and for how long. He explained that her tourist visa would remain valid, and that the fiancee visa would expire in 90 days if we were to change our minds about marriage. Then he told us the visa was approved and should arrive within two weeks and wished us a nice day.
