My husband and I traveled to Guayaquil for our interview. Once we got to the consulate I was not allowed to enter for there were to many people and I had to wait outside. This bothered me a bit, I believe the interview is for both of us, but there was nothing I could do. Once he entered a heap load of people had the same interview time and date, which made him take a VERY long time. At first they asked him for some additional information on our sponsor (which I don't understand why they didn't ask for before the interview) and sent him to the vice-consular to receive an official letter stating that we required that information. Once he got to the vice-consular, the man was VERY rude to him, he treated him like a criminal for no reason, he even made stuff up without proof. He told my husband that "he probably didn't even know the sponsor" (the sponsor is a friend of mine, and yes, my husband knows him. Besides the fact that there is no obligation for the sponsor to be a family member or anything specific) besides that he said that he saw "no intention of our sponsor to sponsor him" (as if having all the paperwork was not enough proof that he had the intention to be our sponsor) and finally that "as far as he was concerned my husband could have faked all the paperwork". Then he said that my husband has no right to a green card because I currently live in Ecuador and this process is for reuniting families (which is not true, for it is also for people like me who wish to reestablish domicile with their families after a period abroad). He also said that I HAD to be in USA as "proof" that my husband wasn't cheating the system (my husband can't even go through border patrol without me, so he can't "cheat the system") This was upsetting for I am 7 month pregnant and have a 1 year old son and have no intention of going to USA without my husband (or not sure he will be able to come) spending all our money and risking being alone for our second baby's birth with a one year-old.
Finally, they gave us 3 letters, one that asked for that piece of paperwork they were missing from our first sponsor, another that stated that our sponsor was not approved and that we needed a completely new sponsor and another that asked for more proof of me going to the USA. As you can see, 2 letters even contradict themselves.
We got a NEW sponsor all together (as if that is an easy task) and sent a gazillion papers proving my intentions to go to USA. We sent the papers 6 days after the interview and got our positive response 15 days later (days, not work days, which was fast because they said they would take 15 work days).
We are extremely happy to AT LAST have our visa approved after a year and a half of process even though the poor child in my belly will probably be born with his fists and jaw clenched for all the stress we have been through. But there was no need to be so rude in the interview.
