My husband's interview was March 1st at 7 am. We arrived at the bus shuttle about 6:30 am and paid for the executive lounge and car. We arrived at the embassy about 6:50 and stood in line waiting outside to be let in. They started to let people in about 7am. They look at your interview letter and print out a number for you. The first window they called him to, was to handover the interview letter. The 2nd window was for his medical and original documents. The 3rd window is for the interview. I did go up with him to this window. We had a CO that wasn't super friendly and was just straight to the point. He asked these questions: Who is calling you? How did you meet? Tell me about this mutual friend? Was he helping you find a wife in America? He asked me what I did for work and when I converted to Islam. Then he told me to have a seat. He asked my husband some more questions, I'm not exactly sure everything he asked. My husband did his interview in English but I could hear that they had to get a translator and then he switched to Urdu. I think his nerves got to him. Then the CO told him to have a seat and they would call him back up. We waited over a hour to get called again. This time it was in a private interview room. The CO told us that they need to interview us separately and told my husband to step out. The CO was very friendly and respectful. He asked me a lot of questions of how we met, if my family was supportive of my decision to convert to Islam. If I had any siblings, were they married and had kids. Were we close to one another. How old is my daughter and what is some of her favorite things to do. Did my husband and her talk and if so about what? He also asked about my daughter's father and the situation with him. He asked me about my husband's family and why didn't they attend the ceremony. He also asked if I still drink and if so what and if I was keeping that from my husband or did I tell him about it? If so, is my husband more liberal in his thinking? Also asked me the name of my husband's company and what would he do in the USA? Also asked me, why I only have come to visit the first time we got married and now? I explained how my vacation works for me and how they take all the holidays and sick time out of it. He said that he understood now. Then he told me thank you and to get my husband. I think my husband was in there for about 15 mins. He basically asked some of the same questions about if I drink and what do I drink, which he replied wine on occasion. Also asked what he talks about with my daughter and he said call of duty, which is what I told the CO also. He also asked him about our cultural differences. My husband replied even though we are from different countries and raised different from one another, that we are human, and that all humans are the same, if you give one another a chance. And that's what we did that we took a chance on love for one another and it grew into something beautiful and meaningful. He said the CO smiled at that and said you are correct. Then my husband came out and said the CO told him that he was approved just to send the correct size passport photos and that as soon as they receive them they would start processing his visa!
