Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 10am 16 February 2018 and I got there about 9:30/45. I had been to the old embassy a few times, however this was the first time at this one so I wasn't sure where to go. Luckily it's a short walk along the river from Vauxhall station.
It was rather quiet when I got there and I was able to walk right in. Laptops aren't allowed and they made a point of that. I knew this already so I only had my cell phone.
I was sent to the front of the queue at the front desk as I was applying for an immigrant visa, and my name was on their list. They gave me an I number and I was then sent to floor two I think where there were loads of people applying for non immigrant visas. They sent me around the corner where there were only a few people waiting for immingrant visas.
My number was called before I could sit down and the gentleman behind the desk asked for my original civil documents only. He reviewed that he had all he needed and told me to sit and wait for my number to be called again for the interview.
I waited for less than 30 minutes to be called again. At this time the lady CO asked me about my husband, how we met, how long we'd been together. She also asked what attracted me to him when we first met.
She then asked me if I'd ever lived in any other countries for more than a year and if I had a criminal record or if I'd ever been arrested. I haven't and I've only lived in IS and UK. She also asked if I'd ever over stayed as a tourist and my longest visit.
I answered all of her questions and I saw her fill in a blue form. My heart dropped I knew this meant a 221g and extra processing. We were 14 months in at this point and just wanted to finally get back to my husband.
The 221g was for a new police certificate with my middle name on it (I hadn't used it as I don't use my middle name and it's not on my passport). Fair enough but I am a bit annoyed that NVC did not advise me this would be needed to take to the interview to avoid further processing. I asked the CO how much longer I'd have to wait and she said that they process the document when they receive it and mentioned something about 2-3 weeks. Still I was devastated.
I ordered another form for the 2 day processing next day delivery and it arrived o Tuesday, I ran to the courier that day to send and CEAC updated to confirm that the visa had been processed! Although I still stand by being unhappy that I could have been advised in advance that I needed a new police certificate I can't fault the turnaround. The new embassy is very nice and will be more so when it's all finished in the area.
The staff were all very pelasent.
