Had my interview under IR1 category at 8:30am. Got there just before 8am and the lady was nice enough to let me in and was given #10.
Went through standard security. I had my documents in a plastic folder and was carrying it in a reusable grocery bag with no issues. They did keep my fitbit and gave me a token to pick it up later.
Got up to the main hall and sat down and sorted my documents the way it was advised on the sheet and waited. My number was called just before 9am and she asked me for my passport, pictures, original birth certificate (I only had the certified copy available which I explained to them), police certificates and marriage certificate. No copies were requested. After that they took my fingerprints. Lady was very nice and friendly. Once done she asked me to go back and wait for my number to be called again for the interview.
Now, strangely they didn’t call anybody for the interview until they completed document verification for all the applicants (around 22) I believe. And when they finally did start calling them for interview, there was only one person taking the interviews which took a very long time. #1 was not called in until like 11am.
My turn came just after 12pm. The gentleman taking the interview was very professional and respectful. Just asked who is sponsoring me? Any kids? When did I immigrate to Canada? (told him estimated year and I didn’t remember the exact date) . Asked about my original birth certificate which I explained that I don’t have it and I can’t get a copy unless I go back to the home country. Asked about my name which I explained I truncated when I immigrated to Canada.
Interview lasted like 5 mins and it was relief to hear that I qualify for the visa. He kept my passport and explained that I will get notification once processing is done and I will be able to pickup the passport then. I left just around 12:30pm.
Now I see the status online is “Administrative Processing†so let’s see how it goes.
