This was a very easy and straight forward process. Every review i read with regards to the Montreal Consulate was very accurate.
Be prepared, bring all required paperwork. originals etc, The whole process took about 2 hrs , 15 minutes of that time was the paperwork check and the interview. There were about 70 people waiting. I arrived at 7:30am, my appointment was at 8am. I waited outside to be let in. Went through Security , fyi, car keys with fobs are not allowed in the consulate, but they take them and put them in the cubby hole and give you a number to retrieve your items later. They give you a sheet with instructions with a # on it. You are told to take the elevator upstairs and wait for your # to be called. They went through my paperwork, my lawyer had me bring my daughters original long form birth certificate as the NVC had asked for it. My daughter is not immigrating with me (She is 25yrs old and has her own life in Canada). They did not ask to see her original birth certificate. They also did not ask to see my spouses tax (W2's) or copy of his passport. The interview itself was fast, she went through all the paperwork and asked me the following questions. Who is sponsoring you in the US? How did you meet? Where did you meet in person? What is the best thing about him? Who else lives with him? Very straight forward questions. She said everything looks good, you'll receive your visa and passport within 1-2 weeks then gave me 2 sheets of paper to review. The package is now electronic so they no longer send a paper package for you to take to the border...My lawyer didn't even know. So this must be new.
All in all it was very anticlimatic... i wanted balloons and streamers to fall from the ceiling, but that didn't happen! Good luck to everyone going through the process.
