I arrived in Rio with my fiancee to attend her interview at the consulate at 1030 a.m., We arrived about 9:00 am. We stayed at the Atlantico Business hotel on Senador Dantas Ave. After some initial confusion over where we were to enter the building we were finally directed to a gate that was unmarked but staffed by two guards. Once we explained our purpose the gate opened and we were directed to a room upstairs with about 40 people, We were called and presented our documents to the officer who went through and removed much of the documentation and returned it to us and we were asked to take a seat until called. From where we were sitting I could hear the interview officer speaking to applicants ahead of us. The first person was turned down for RFE, others emerged with smiles. For our turn the officer asked four questions, how we met, how many times I had been to visit her, how many times we each had been married. Ana was nervous but I think that because I was at her side helped with this interview. The officer wished us good luck and congratulations! This officer was friendly and efficient. I wish I would have gotten his name to send a thank you letter. We walked back to the hotel but stopped at the coffee house on the way next to the Cinelandia Metro station to celebrate and reflect. We stayed in Rio for extra days and enjoyed our visit. We used no taxi but walked or used the metro which I found to be safe. I found that the guards were not very friendly but maybe i can forgive them because so many people were here, many with questions.
