I attended the London US Embassy last week for a K1 & K2 Interview. We got to the embassy at around 11.45 for our 12.30 appointment time. We stored our overnight bag at Gould's Pharmacy (just down the road from the embassy) which cost £3. PLEASE NOTE: You can take your phone to the embassy but chargers, headphones, laptops, tablets etc. cannot be taken in with you. It was too early for our appointment so we spent about 15 minutes in the park next to the embassy.
At 12pm, we walked back and there is a blue tent outside the embassy where a lady was stationed who you will give your name and appointment letter/confirmation to, she then puts a sticker on the paperwork and will direct you to the small security building. Here you will go through the metal detector and your bag, wallet, coat etc. will be through the scanner. Once that's all clear, they will let you through to the actual embassy building.
We walked in and gave the letter to the front desk, they sent us to the right to the interview rooms. There is a lot of seating and a big screen that displays ticket numbers and shows which counter you will be called up to. As I walked in, a man told me that they needed us right away at Counter 4. Thought this was a bit odd as it was only 12.05 and our appointment time was 12.30. Walked up to Counter 4 and the man working there has no clue why I had been told to go directly to his counter. He seemed pretty grumpy with me so I offered to go and sit and wait but he told me he may as well take my documents whilst I was there. He took the originals of our birth certificates, passports, I-134 and my police certificate. He also told me that our medical results were not there so I informed him that they would be arriving that day as confirmed by knightsbridge doctors. He asked if I had permission to take my son out of the country to which I replied yes and gave him a copy of our custody agreement. Then I did my finger prints on the scanner and he told me to sit down and wait to be called up for our interview.
About 2 minutes later, we were called to counter 14. To find these counters you have to go back towards the door you came in and there is a corridor to the left of it, that takes you up there. I can only liken the counters to the ones like we have at the post office which I wasn't expecting at all. We walked up to counter 14 to another man ( this time an american). He first asked me that I was here for a fiance visa with Mark? I corrected him and say my fiances name is Matthew. He started looking through our paperwork and asked me how we first met I told him we met online in July 2016 and then we met in person in London in October 2016.He then asked if I had been married before, I said no this would be my first but Matt's second marriage. Then the officer said so you met online in October 2016, I said no we met online in July 2016 and then in person in October. Then he asked me what Matt's job was so I gave him that info, he then asked about some real estate Matt had sold that we listed on the I-134 so I explained that. He asked when we were getting married so I told him our wedding date was December 16th. He asked about our medical results not being there and I told him that Knightsbridge doctors told me they would be there that day and had emailed the embassy to confirm that information. Then he got me to do my fingerprints, he did not acknowledge or ask anything of my little boy (he's 6). He said he was going to take photocopies of the originals I said I had done this as well if he would like to take those photocopies to which he said yes.
After that, he gave me a 221g blue form as our medical results were not there yet. He told me that once they had our medical results, our visa would be issued and sent out in the mail along with our passports and information. And that was it!
