Yesterday I arrived at the embassy at 12.10 but my appointment was at 12.30 so i wasn't too sure if i was to early so i went to the blue tent and asked the lady stood there, she said that i was able to go in. She asked for either my DS-160 or the confirmation letter for my appointment so i gave her the DS-160 and she signed it and told me to go into the security room.
I has to press a button outside to let them know i needed letting in, I then put my coat, bag and phone in the tray and walked through the metal detector and was good to go into the embassy.
When you first walk in there is a reception desk this is where you will give them the piece of paper the first person signed outside and the person at reception will put a sticker on the paper with your number, then you'll walk into the main hall.
Imagine it like a really big post office, on your left it's row after row of what i describe as airport seats and then on your right is 11 windows (like what they have in a post office) all numbered. At the very front of the hall is a large TV which flashes up numbers, keep an eye out for yours! When your number flashes up it will tell you what window to go to. My number flashed up no sooner than i sat down and i was called to window 3 where i was greeted by a friendly gentleman. He asked for my passport, 1 passport picture, I-134 and supporting documents (i gave my fiance's letter from employer and his paystubbs for the past year). He then took my fingerprints (push your hand down hard!), he put all my documents in a folder and stuck a sticker onto the front of my passport and then told me to take a seat again.
I waited an hour and 15 minutes before my number got called again. I can honestly say it felt like i was sat there for 10 hours, the time seemed to drag and i was getting more nervous by the second!!
I got called to window 13 which is around the corner (when you first walk into the hall at the beginning, windows 12-20 are down a small corridor to your right). This time i was greeted by a lady who again was really friendly (thank god!). She asked me only 6 questions and my interview literally lasted around 3-4 minutes at the most. Here is what she asked me.....
How did you meet?
Have you both travelled back and forth?
Where does your fiance live?
Is it a house or and apartment?
What does he do for work?
What is your plan once you get there?
I also need to add that i had my medical on the 28/09 but they needed some additional information from my GP which delayed things, my medical results hadn't yet arrived at the embassy (they should be arriving today hopefully). I explained this to the lady who interviewed me and she was really nice about it, after she asked me the 6 questions she smiled and said 'okay well that's all good, once we've received your medical results we will ship your visa, allow 14 days to receive it'.
I'm so relieved it is finally over and i don't need to panic about every little thing! It was a really nice experience, all staff were polite and friendly and it was a very painless interview!
