Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Appointment was at 8.45 am. I was allowed to enter the compound about 30 minutes early, made to remove the seal for the medical report, then went through security check. You will have to leave your bag at the security check with any electronic devices, and can only carry your documents from this point onward.
After waiting in the outside waiting area, we were called inside. There we were told to hand over the birth certificate, marriage certificate, police clearance, affidavit of support, previous year tax return, passport size photos and additional photos for proof of bonafide marriage. After checking that the documents were in order, the documents were handed back to us and we were told to only hand over these documents. I was told to be seated until my number was called.
Then I was called to another window where I handed over the documents and photos to a Nepali official, and I was given a pamphlet to read regarding domestic violence. I was told to wait again.
Then I was called to another window to have my fingerprints taken. I was told to wait again.
Finally, I was called to a window for the interview, where the consular officer had already reviewed the documents and photos. He handed those back to me. I was asked basic questions about my travel history (I have lived in, and traveled to multiple countries), question about how I met my wife. Then I was told that the visa was approved, and I was given additional instructions in a tiny card. I'm glad I came prepared, but I didn't need to show any of the additional documents I had in my other folder.
That was it!
