My interview was originally scheduled for August 21, 2017 - however, after extensive questions, and research I learned that K-1 interviews are ALWAYS conducted on Wednesdays. I cancelled and re-scheduled to August 9th. Drove out to Montreal, booked a $50 Airbnb near Olympique Stadium, drove over for 9am with my fiance and his son, and went in by myself. My fiance's son wanted to play Pokemon Go javascript:emoticon(' ')
I arrived, an officer confirmed my appointment (make sure you have your confirmation letter printed out), and they placed a sticker on my passport and told me to check in with security for a check. They took my phone, and passed through the security check, and handed me a ticket to grab my phone afterwards, and a laminated sheet with a number up at the top, and the order in how to organize my paperwork. They provide instructtions to guide you downstairs to a hallway, with a lone elevator that will take you to the 19th floor where the interviews are being conducted.
Take a seat, organize your paperwork, and wait for your # to be called. NOW, if you're there for a K-1 visa, make sure you are scheduling your interview as a NON-IMMIGRANT VISA: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv - through this website. I scheduled my interview through the Immigrant visa, and learned (when my # was called) that on Monday, August 7th, my appointment had been cancelled because I scheduled under the incorrect category. I did not receive an email, nor a phone to let me know my appointment was cancelled. I was in shock, and very nervous that I would be turned away. The lady at the window spoke to her superiors, and let me know that they would need a few mins to pull up my file and we can move forward *PHEW*. I went to pay the consular fees, again you can pay through CASH ONLY, and then went back and submitted the requested paperwork, submitted my fingerprints, and then was told to wait for the Immigration Officer to call my number to conduct the interview.
At the next window, the female officer had my raise my right hand, and swear that the information I was providing was factual, and truth and that I was not committing fraud. I was asked simple questions regarding my relationship, how did we meet, when did it get serious, how often we were able to see each other, where he works, if we were previously married, and then some questions regarding my travel history. After those questions were all done, I was told that our paperwork was all in order, and that my visa was approved.
All in all, everyone I encountered was friendly, and considerate, and I was happy to know that they were able to accommodate my "walk-in" appointment considering I had not scheduled the appointment properly. Hope everyone who reads this will learn from my mistake and not have their stomach in knots like I did lol. GOOD LUCK
