Hi,

First time U.S. Visa applicants should find some useful info below.
Following info is only to explain step by step procedure once you have reached the embassy.

(Visit/Tourism Visa - B1/B2)
My wife and I along with our 2 children applied for the Visa.

25th July 2017
Appointment Day: Tuesday
Appointment Time" 10:00 a.m.

Reached U.S Embassy @: 9:15 a.m.
Turn Came on time@: 10:00 a.m.
Finished within half hour @: 10:30 a.m.

Once you reach outside the embassy:

((((Step 1: Outdoor Office))))

There is an outdoor office where usually 2 to 3 Pakistani guys do 3 things:

A. Collect your passport and the D160 confirmation page and your Picture.
-You would be asked to place your D160 paper and a picture inside your passport.
-the guy will paste the picture with glue on the D160 paper himself.
-do not cover your passport with any plastic lamination because that office guy has to paste a sticker on the cover of passport.

B. They will take reading of the height of Male members.

C. He will ask you if you want the interview to be conducted in Engoish or other language.
(The American interviewers inside are fluent in many languages and usually do not require an interpreter)
NOTE: Don't bring any hand bags or large purse!
Don't print the D160 Confirmation page on a heavy (card paper) paper. Just the plain white A4 sized is fine.

((((Step 2: GO inside the embassy waiting area))))

A. Once you enter, any folders or belongings you take inside would be checked through the Security X-ray scanner machine
B. You would be asked to go inside the embassy and wait to be called in for documents submission.
C. After the checking, you enter into the waiting area. If you see no one in the waiting area, feel free to ask any guard what you need to do. (All you need to do usually is enter the last door for documents submission on your turn)
D. Another Pakistani guy will frequently come out from the last door and Call out guys with the first appointments (8 a.m). Then (830 a.m.) then 9 a.m. and so on.
If you reach a little late, usually there's not much problem. They will call you in. (Please do not be late, i'm no one to say that there is no problem but when i was there they did call people in even if they were late)
My appointment was for 10 a.m. but at 10 a.m. when i was called in, the guy also asked if there were people for 9 a.m., 930 a.m.

((((Step 3: Passport & DS160 Checkpoint))))

A. At the first counter you will be asked to show your passport and the DS160 page with the pasted picture. The counter guy (usually a Pakistani) will look at it and mark something on the paper and do some work on computer.
B. He will ask the ladies if they had a different name before marriage.
C. He will return your passport and DS160 page and send you to next counter.

((((STEP 4: Fingerprints))))

A. Adults are required to record finger prints on the first counter.
-Put your 4 fingers of left hand together over the scanning machine (gently)
-Then put your 4 fingers of right hand together over the machine (gently)
-Lastly place both your thumbs over the machine.
NOTE:
Don't press too hard on the machine.
While placing the fingers for scan, there should be no gap between fingers.
If for some reason the scanner cannot detect your finger prints, it's not your problem and they will just send you for the next part.
(Please correct me if i am wrong, but somehow the machine could not read my wife's finger prints)

((((Final Step 5. Interview))))

Questions Asked

1. Why do want to go to USA?
2. Have you ever been to US
3. Asked me for my previous passports. Took a look at them and asked..
You got a visa in 2002 as well but you did not travel. Why didn't u visit then?
4. Have you traveled with kids abroad?
6. Have you traveled as a couple before?
7. What do you do? Work wise
8. Where do your kids study?

NOTE
A. At the end if they give you a Visa (a Blue paper is given stating that you have been issued a visa)
They will keep your passport and would send you an email telling you the date to receive your passports with visa stamped from the location that you select while filling the application form.
The interviewer will inform you there and then that your visa is approved.

B. In case of visa rejection, (a yellow paper is given stating that you are not eligible for a visa). The interviewer will inform you there and then that he/she cannot offer you a visa.
I think you can apply again after 10 days (but i'm not sure).
