I had my interview July 5th and had a lovely experience.
Firstly a huge thankyou to all those that came before me; I probably got more information from this forum/community than I did from the packets/consulate information.

You aren't allowed to bring any bags with you, and since I was using public transit I opted for the lockers available at Eaton Place ( a mall). Its only 2 blocks away and right as you come out of the McGill Metro station. You can find the lockers at the food court - bottom level- opposite the bathrooms and right beside the Aqua Fish food vendor. It costs a loonie and can store a gym-sized duffle until the mall closes at 9:30pm.

After storing my backpack and water bottle, I kept a shopping bag with my medical results and documents in an accordion folder. If you DO need to pick up medical results the day of your interview, both offices are within walking distance of each other, so it should be very do-able. Once I reached the consulate a guard opened the door and a lady at a desk took my passport and appointment confirmation. She gave me the laminated sheet with my number, handed me my passport with a sticker on it (had my name and case number with a barcode) back and forwarded me onto security. The security is just like the airport, everything goes through and you walk through a metal detector. If you have any electronics, they give you a number and store them there. Once you're all cleared they directed down a hall to an elevator which takes you up o the 19th floor.

Once you reach that floor there's a waiting room where you can take a seat and get organised until they call your number. I admit I was amazed at how little they actually asked for (but I'd rather be overprepared than worry about a denial). It asked for the numbered sheet, your passport, passport colour copy, proof of appointment payment, sealed medical exam, longform birth certificate and copy, police certificate, 2 photos, marriage/ devorce docs, custody docs, court records, military records, affidavit and evidence, and letter of intent from sponsoring fiance/e.

When I was called I went to the document check window where a man asked for my passport and numbered sheet. He confirmed my address and info, as well as where I intended to be staying when moving. He then went through a checklist he had; I gave him my passport copy, birth cert and copy, 2 pictures, police record (didn't want a copy, but you don't get it back), medical (didn't take the xray CD, but youre told to hang onto it for the AOS), receipt of payment, sponsors intent to marry, affidavit and only his most recent tax return ( I had all sorts of evidence, but he wasn't interested). He then took my fingerprints and told me to sit back down.

After waiting for maybe 10 minutes and 2 other interviewees ahead of me I was called to the second window for my interview. I had a very kind young lady who swore me in and went on to ask her questions. As others have mentioned, they make it very conversational, so don't be nervous. She asked how we met, how we've managed to make it work, what we like to do when together, and if we've met each others families. Once answered, she tapped away for a few moments on her computer and then said I was approved. She handed me my 'Welcome to the US' sheet along with a passport courier info sheet, and congratulated us.

Overall very impressed with the staff and the whole process at the consulate.
