My appointment was at 9am this morning - I stayed at an airbnb and took the bus to the medical appointment building to pick up my results at 7:45, then walked over to the consulate. I've been in Montreal since last Wednesday, as I had my medical done on Thursday and had to allow for processing. As per reviews here I popped into Starbucks to wait and headed to the consulate at 8:40. There was no one there besides the greeter at the door and the security guard, both very pleasant. The greeter asked me for my passport and my proof of payment for the appointment, then handed them back along with the laminated sheet. I went through security and had to leave liquids (water bottle) and my phone with them and got a tag. I was instructed to go downstairs and take the elevator to the 19th floor.

The 19th floor office has a really gorgeous view of Montreal! I can't remember if others had noted that. It was only 8:45 at that point so I sat down and got my files in order - I was the only person on the non-us citizen services side of the room, no other visa applicants. Shortly after 9 I was called up to the window and was asked for each document, not in the exact order on the laminated sheet but I had everything labeled with post-its so I'd just remove the post-it as I handed in each document. I also gave my prints. I wasn't asked for any additional documents besides those on the laminated form - I had proof of US domicile, scans of my US fiancé's birth cert/passport and none of those were necessary. I will also note that I went to Commissionaires on Avenue Laurier in Montreal the Thursday before my interview and ordered a Police Certificate (I'm a Canadian with no criminal record) - picked it up on Friday (yellow hard copy with dry seal) and it was accepted no problem. The gentleman told me to have a seat and listen for my number again, about 10 minutes later I was called up to a more private window around the corner. A woman asked me a couple of questions "How did you meet" "What do you like to do together", and then told me my visa had been approved and handed me the "Welcome to the US!" pages. She verified where my passport would be sent (I'm staying and picking it up here in Montreal) and then said that was it! It's now been a few hours and my status on CEAC has changed from "Ready" to "Application Received" so fingers crossed it's "Issued" very soon. All in all I was in and out in an hour, I left the consulate at 9:35am. I will also note that there were only 3 other K1 visa applicants there by the time I left at 9:30, so a pretty slow morning!
